Joining the Audio Committee is an excellent way to expand your skills and to become a bigger participant in the Vera Project in general. We are the committee responsible, along with the Audio-Tech Interns, for the regular upkeep of the sound equipment both on the stage and in the studio. All of Vera’s classes are taught by Audio Committee members and we have worked hard as a committee to make sure the curricula for our Audio Program is up to date and informative. We meet on a monthly basis at 7 pm on the 2nd Thursday in the Vera recording studio. The only requirement for Audio Committee membership is that you have taken the Sound 101 and that you are interested in volunteering and helping out the Vera Project..

Besides Vera, Dan also works as an Audio Engineer at El Corazon and The Moore Theatre.

Joshua Peterson, current FOH Staff, former Tech Intern
Josh first started volunteering at The Vera in hopes of learning a little about recording music at home. Miking up bands like The Fleet Foxes and Android Hero was so much fun that he stuck around and became an intern. He appreciates The Vera because volunteering there has exposed him to new music, good people, and has taught him a good deal about audio engineering along the way. In his spare time, Josh is studying digital art and experimental media at the UW and learning to musical robots and robotical music.

Kerri Ondracek, former Tech Intern
Kerri Ondracek is a recent graduate of the University of Washington Ethnomusicology program. She began volunteering at Vera in 2009 and is a former Audio Tech Intern. She aspires to compose music for film and video games and spends a lot of her free time writing music and studying music theory. She plays trumpet, piano, gyil xylophone and steelpans and yes, she does weddings. Kerri is also quite certain she could take Rowdy in a round of Super Smash Bros 64.

Kevin Heard, current FOH Staff, former Tech Intern
Kevin Heard is a 2010 graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle where he received an associate’s degree in Audio Production. Kevin began working in live sound at the ripe old age of 14 in his hometown of Butte, Montana. Ever since he first touched a fader, he knew audio was what he was destined to do. Throughout high school, while also working as an announcer and production talent for a local radio station cluster, Kevin began learning the tricks of the live sound trade by working with D&D Productions on a wide array of small to medium live events. While looking for a place to go to college, he found the Art Institute of Seattle and realized it was perfect for him. Shortly after moving to Seattle, he began volunteering at The Vera Project and worked his way up to staff engineer. Along with Vera, Kevin also works at the Seattle Repertory Theatre as House Sound Engineer for the Leo Kreielsheimer Theatre and is pursuing his bachelor’s degree from the Art Institute.

Leigh Woody, current Tech Intern
I’m a Texas native and former Electronics Technician, currently studying Audio Design Technologies at The Art Institute of Seattle. I transplanted to Seattle almost two years ago via separation from the US Coast Guard. I screen print and custom upholster amps in my spare time.
After Vera audio members spoke to my class (at AIS), I started getting involved with volunteering. I got all my required membership volunteer hours done during last year’s Cap Hill Block Party, and quickly became a Vera Member/Audio Committee Member. Since then, I have put in many volunteer hours at Vera and the Seattle Center. I started my audio internship about 4 months ago, and currently fill the lead audio internship spot. Where my main duties include maintenance and repair of gear throughout our live room and studio. Other duties have included engineering Veracity shows and helping out as monitor assistant.
Once my audio internship is complete I plan to remain on the Audio Committee and volunteer. I’m very excited about our recent addition of lighting classes, and would like to further attend the multitude of classes offered here at The Vera Project!

Michael Lane, current FOH Staff, former Tech Intern
Michael has been volunteering at The Vera Project since late 2009. In August of 2010 he became a Tech Intern, and in December took the Lead Tech Intern position. During his first round of internship, Michael became part of the FOH staff. Michael also does live sound at The Highline on Capitol Hill, has a Professional Certificate in Studio Production from Berklee College of Music, and is expected to graduate from The Art Institute of Seattle in Spring 2011 with an Associate degree. His favorite bands include Trophy Scars, These Arms Are Snakes, and Fear Before.

I am the newest audio intern here at Vera and am very excited to see what I will learn and what experiences come my way. I am more interested in post/Foley work when it comes to audio; and I hope that after I graduate I can find work in that field.

Rafael Echeverria, current FOH Staff, former Tech Intern
Rafael Echeverria will be graduating from Shoreline Community College with an A.A.A.S Degree in Digital Audio Engineering and other on MIDI Music Production. He has been volunteering at The Vera Project since 2007 as a Audio Tech Intern in 2008 and as a Front of House Audio Engineer since 2008. Robert has been involved with local music for a long time, playing his first shows at the all-ages Community World Theater in Tacoma. From 1996 to 1999 he was the Production Manager for Seattle label Will Records, overseeing releases from artists Sage, Hitting Birth, and Grandaddy among many others. Ryan Rood, current FOH Staff
Hailing from Olympia Washington, Ryan Rood is a caffeine free audio engineer (a rarity in the industry) and will be graduating from the Art Institute of Seattle in June 2010 with an Associate of Applied Arts in Audio Production. He began volunteering at The Vera Project late 2008 and eventually became an intern in June 2009. Before he finished his internship, he moved up to front of house audio staff and became involved with the in-house audio department (classes, recording studio, etc). Ryan grew up listening to really cheesy hair metal and bad 90’s rock and pop. Now he likes everything from death metal to polka.
