Get into VERA’s Recording Studio through this 3-hour workshop and studio orientation! Learn the studio infrastructure including, bootup, signalflow, patchbay setup, Mixing desk operation, and basic Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) integration. During the session we will experiment with different ways of running signal from the live room to the computer. Some familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (IE ProTools, Logic, Reaper, Ableton, Ect) is encouraged. After taking this course, students who are new to studio recording should be ready for the Advanced studio class as well as having a better grounding for independent research.

Pre-requisites: Some familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (IE ProTools, Logic, Reaper, Ableton, Ect) is encouraged.

Students who complete this class are eligible to volunteer at studio sessions with VERA recording engineers. Recording engineers who are actively involved with the VERA community may be eligible to rent the studio for personal or professional use.

COVID-19 Safety Information
All attendees (with the exception of youth under age 5) are required to present proof of COVID vaccination by bringing your original vaccination document or a photo/digital copy + ID to the workshop. For the duration of the workshop, attendees will be asked to wear masks, maintain social distancing where possible and sanitize hands between use of materials or equipment. Please do not come to Vera if you test positive for COVID-19, are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or if you had a recent exposure to someone with COVID-19.

Accessibility Information
The venue has two floor levels; the Recording Studio workshop takes place in the studio located on the second floor. A single-person lift provides access between backstage on the first floor, the stage platform, and the recording studio on the second floor.  Patrons may also access each level by taking the outdoor ramp pathways on the north and south sides of the building. Entrance and inside doorways are not automatic and may require assistance to open. Gender neutral bathrooms are located on the first floor and include ADA accessible stalls and sinks. Please contact Levin at levin@theveraproject.org if you have questions or accommodation requests.

Class Refund Policy
The Vera Project does not provide refunds nor reschedule tickets for other class dates. If you are no longer able to attend, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to another person through the SeeTickets platform or contact us to give your spot to one of our waitlisted scholarship recipients.
