This class series is an avenue for creation and community, through lenses of DIY application and self care. The 3-week workshop blends group discussions, instructor presentations and own time activities in and outside of class with the opportunity to share progress. Starts with the fundamentals of embroidery which will set the foundation for any needlework project. Assignments will challenge students to imagine different kinds of merch, the various applications and possibilities with the medium of needlework. In the end students will have embroidered pieces for themselves or to share with their communities.

Class materials are hosted on Google Classrooms website and video meetings are conducted on Google Meet. You must have or create a personal Google Account to be able to access the class website. To participate in this class, you will need: microphone, web camera (what comes with a phone or laptop fine), 4in embroidery hoop, embroidery needles, floss(thread), scissors, fabric. Optional: fusible interfacing, washable fabric marker. You can purchase an embroidery supply kit by selecting the “Embroidery Kit” option upon checkout.
Information about embroidery kits:
The kit includes a 4 inch wooden hoop, nine different colors of floss, foldable portable scissors, self-threading and regular embroidery needles, an 11” x 12” piece of fabric, on which a small design will be printed to use for stitch practice, and a physical copy of the Basic Embroidery for DIY Merch zine. This comes in a small and portable zipper pouch.
The kit will be mailed to you Tuesday November 3rd, A week prior to the start of the session to ensure its arrival prior to the first class. Last day to order your kit is November 3rd at 12pm. Embroidery kit orders are final sale. If you notice damage upon receiving your kit, please contact us within 72 hours of receiving the kit. Please include photos so we may determine if a replacement is necessary.
