Formed in 1987, Green Day is an American rock band that spurred California’s punk revival scene into the mainstream with their fusion of highly melodic pop-punk and a raw, restless angst that spoke to American teens at the turn of the 21st century, earning members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool a fervent cult following and a slew of platinum records.
