Vera’s screen print studio offers four-hour Open Sessions where individuals who have completed the introductory class may use our professional screen print lab to work on their own projects. Our Open Sessions are looked over by a volunteer moderator, who can provide you with advice and guidance for anything taught in our Screen Printing 101 class. If you are looking for more in-depth help and guidance on a specific project, consider privately renting the studio at Tier Three.
Open sessions are typically scheduled for the 1st Wednesday (4-8 PM), 2nd Friday (2-6 PM), and 4th Saturday (12-4 PM) of each month. Our next Open Session dates are:
Saturday July 27, 12-4 PM (fully booked)
Wednesday August 7, 4-8 PM (just screen prep)
Friday August 16, 2-6 PM (just screen prep)
Saturday August 24, 12-4 PM (just paper printing and screen prep)
To sign up for an Open Session, please email info@theveraproject.org with the following information:
- Your name
- Confirmation that you have taken the SP 101 class
- What slot you’d like to book: Paper printing, Fabric Printing, or just screen prep
- Once you receive confirmation of your session, pay the Square invoice online.
One 4-hour Open Session costs $12. If you are a member at Vera, you receive a 25% discount! Just mention it in your email.
Please plan on attending Open Sessions without additional guests: our studio is pretty small and we want everyone to have enough space to work on their projects! If you need to bring a guest with you, please let us know in advance.
Our Open Sessions are in high demand, so please do your best to attend or let us know in advance if you are no longer able to attend. Multiple skipped sessions with no payment or no contact regarding your absence may result in your ability to use the studio being revoked.
Vera’s screen printing studio is completely water-based! We do not use and do not allow the use of plastisol ink in our studio for both ecological and safety reasons.
The cost of the open session fee includes: access to the facilities, on-premise use of VERA’s screens, emulsion, emulsion remover, and packing tape, scrap paper, and print tools like squeegees, rubber spatulas, and scoop coaters. Vera can print a 12″ x 18″ transparent stencil for $10, while supplies and availability lasts. You must email your file at least 24 hours before your session, and your file must be properly sized to 12″ x 18″ and saved as a .PDF or .PSD file. We cannot make any edits to your file. We recommend getting your stencils printed on transparent paper at FedEx, or another print-on-demand store.
